Finding Freedom in Holistic Health

Logan Wade's Journey with Chronic Illness

Welcome to the Space for Grace, a podcast and community dedicated to empowering women in their physical, mental, and spiritual health. This week, we had an incredible conversation with Logan Wade, a passionate advocate for those facing complex chronic conditions like Lyme disease, chronic fatigue, and fibromyalgia. Logan’s journey into holistic health coaching reveals not only the struggles but also the breakthroughs that come from taking a comprehensive approach to healing.

From Misdiagnosis to Breakthroughs in Health

Logan's health journey began in 2019, when he started experiencing severe symptoms that traditional medical approaches failed to diagnose. Countless tests came back normal, yet Logan felt “poisoned,” as he described. This led him to explore alternative approaches, seeking out naturopathic and holistic practices. Along the way, he found valuable support within the Integrative Nutrition and health coaching community, where he’s now completing his own certification.

One pivotal moment for Logan was his diagnosis of Lyme disease through a specialist from the International Lyme and Associated Diseases Society (ILADS). This diagnosis, missed by several tests before, finally provided answers and direction in his wellness journey.

The Complex Puzzle of Chronic Illness

For those with chronic conditions, every person’s journey is unique, often requiring a “bioindividual” approach. Logan emphasized the need to understand not just Lyme or any singular illness but the many interconnected issues, from co-infections to stressors in lifestyle and environment. He spoke about the importance of integrating varied healing modalities, from functional medicine to even less conventional approaches, like acupuncture and muscle testing.

Logan’s story is a powerful reminder of the need for a holistic strategy. From managing nutrition to limiting toxin exposure, building emotional resilience, and even learning new coping mechanisms, his journey shows that each layer of health builds on another.

Building Resilience for Lasting Health

One of the most eye-opening aspects of Logan's experience is the role that “metabolic resilience” plays in chronic health issues. This means not only building physical resilience but also emotional and mental strength. For Logan, a turning point came from reflecting on how lifestyle and mental health affect the body’s ability to handle stress and healing.

As Logan explained, resilience is about our “ability to handle stress, conflict, and setbacks.” Preventative health is vital: maintaining good gut health, reducing toxins, and cultivating strong emotional habits can all build a strong foundation for navigating illness or injury.

Men's Health in the Holistic Space

Logan also shared a unique perspective on being a male in a predominantly female space. He highlighted the stigma men often face in discussing health concerns or seeking emotional support. Men are frequently encouraged to “tough it out” rather than openly address their well-being. By speaking up about his own experiences, Logan sheds light on the importance of emotional support and therapy as key tools in health, not just for women but for men as well.

How Health Coaches Empower the Chronically Ill

A central message Logan shared is the value of health coaches in supporting individuals with chronic conditions. Coaches provide continuity and accountability between doctor visits, offering clients tools for navigating health complexities in real time. Logan sees his role as a health coach as not only offering referrals to functional and integrative practitioners but also as a partner on the journey, helping clients identify what works best for them.

Moving Forward with Hope

Logan’s journey illustrates the importance of holistic, patient-centered care. For those feeling alone in their health struggles, Logan’s story is a powerful reminder: healing isn’t linear, but with the right support, resilience, and a willingness to explore alternative options, finding freedom in health is possible.
